Introduction of YMCA of Hong Kong

Being a non-subvented non-governmental organisation, the YMCA of Hong Kong strives to provide all-round services for those in needs, to improve the quality of life for the underprivileged families and to foster intercultural harmony.

Through our Headquarters in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST), and outreach centres in Cheung Sha Wan and Tung Chung, we provides a wide range of services including:

Youth Programmes – Child Development Fund BOSS Programme, A-Life Academy, Youth Leadership Development Scheme, Boundless, Scouts and Campus YMCA of Hong Kong;

Community Services – Food Share, Toy Bank, After School Care Programme, Green Organic Farm, elderly visit, rice delivery and hair cutting for the elderly;

Employment Initiatives – Manpower Development Scheme of Employees Retraining Board and Employment Support Services of Social Welfare Department;

Cross-cultural Integration – Multicultural Network and Overseas Domestic Helper Programme.

The mission of YMCA of Hong Kong is to develop a healthy body, mind and spirit for people in our community. Therefore, our Member & Community Services Division offers a series of quality sports and physical education programmes, fitness andwellness programmes, camping services, leisure programmes and community art projects at TST Headquarters, King's Park Centenary Centre and Lamma Island Outdoor Centre.

As a well-known Christian organisation, YMCA of Hong Kong develops a strong educational spirit based on the CARES core values, with Christian faith and values as the top priority. A Biblical Foundation for Early Childhood Education by University for the Nations has been adopted as core curriculum of our three kindergartens and the nursery school. Students of the primary school and secondary school are multilingual and they all excel in English as the language of instruction and inclusion. With the combination of curricula and a dynamic international environment, we can truly prepare students for successful futures in Hong Kong or overseas.

To enable personal growth and further fulfill our social responsibility, Hostel Services has been an integral part of the YMCA of Hong Kong. Today, The Salisbury, as well as the home for one of our kindergarten, member services and Continuing Education Unit, made all our services and programmes possible from the surpluses generated from the hostel operations, as we are not a Government-subvented organisation.

Whatever the circumstances, YMCA of Hong Kong has remained steadfast in our vision and mission to the furtherance of justice, peace, truth and hope. Our direction and Christian values are our cornerstone since The YMCA of Hong Kong was founded in 1901.
