Notes to Participants (Swimming Programme)
- Please follow the Swimming Pool Rules and Regulations at all times. Please refer to the sign board at the pool entrance for details.
- Participants must not change classes or make substitutions themselves.
- The Aquatics Unit reserves the right to transfer or arrange participants to more suitable levels at any time.
- Participants should bring their enrolment receipts to collect their Participant Cards at 1/F Reception Counter before the first lesson. If cards are lost or damaged, please apply for replacements (administrative charges will apply).
- Please present your Participant Card to obtain a locker key. Locker service is available at 1/F Reception Counter 15 minutes before the scheduled programme start time.
- To foster better hygiene habits and to build a stronger team spirit, our Academy will provide a free swimming cap to each participant at the first lesson of each course. Participants are required to wear the cap during lessons to identify themselves until the end of the course. Participants who fail to bring their caps are required to purchase a new one at 1/F Reception Counter.
- Participants are required to check-in at the pool deck counter and wait by the Swimming Class Waiting Area for instructors to guide them to their training venue. Participants should not go into the water without an instructor's permission or guidance.
- Participants must follow their instructor's instructions during the class. Our staff have the right to prohibit anyone who disobeys instructions from attending the class. Fees paid will not be refunded.
- Report Slips will be distributed to participants at the 8th lesson of each course for online enrolment. Participants who missed the distribution can collect the above documents at 1/F Reception Counter within one month.
- Participants are required to submit the enrolment form along with a valid report slip when enrolling for swimming programmes. Please note that each report slip is valid for 6 months from its issue date, after which a Swimming Assessment must be arranged through the Aquatics Unit.
- Current participants (YMCA Members only) have priority in enrolling for upcoming swimming classes.
- The YMCA Distance Award Test will be conducted during the last lesson of each course. No make up tests will be arranged.
- A Course Evaluation Form and application Forms for Certificates will be distributed during the last lesson of each course. These can also be obtained at 1/F Reception Counter within one month of the last lesson.
- The YMCA of Hong Kong Swimming Academy provides the following certificates for participants:
- Achievement Certificate: for participants who have fulfilled the requirements of each level (as confirmed by the instructor);
- Attendance Certificate: for participants who have achieved 70% or above attendance in a course;
- YMCA Distance Award Certificate: for participants who have passed the Distance Award Test for specified distances with a single swimming stroke.
- After class, participants must leave the pool area immediately. Member participants who wish to remain must purchase a swimming ticket. Children under the age of 12 or below 1 metre in height must be accompanied by an adult guardian in the pool area.
- Parents/Guardians can pick up participants at the exit of the Secondary Pool.
- Participants under the age of 3 (i.e. Aqua-Tots children) are required to wear swimming diapers when entering the pool.
- Only parents or guardians with children under 9-years-old of the opposite gender can use the Family Changing Room.
- To maintain cleanliness in our facilities, parents or guardians should remind their children to visit the toilet before swimming.
- Participants are advised not to swim immediately after a meal or when hungry. Should participants feel unwell during class, they should exit the pool and inform our staff immediately for assistance. In case of any accidental water contamination, the YMCA of Hong Kong reserves the right to claim for damages.
- For safety reasons, our staff have the right to prohibit anyone whose health condition is considered unsuitable from attending class.
